Guys, I'll be setting the league up tomorrow. We'll email all of you sometime in the afternoon.

Ben--your request is intriguing. I'm not a fan of eliminating players from the league unless we absolutely have to, so me and Dave will figure something out and let you know!

Is there a way we can all finish the draft online via msn or irc?  With finishing the draft via free agency I can see a few people getting screwed and some people getting all the good remaining players because they were able login to yahoo! first.  I'm nervous the free agency will open during a time when I'm in class.

Well Corey - you have my email address... I didn't know you had another two rounds off air - since I had several targetted players based on the above list, I dunno who fell in the next two rounds.

Give me a buzz either way!

Mitchell wrote re: HFHL Live Draft Blog

Couldn't we just set it up for a live online draft for the remaining 8 players?

p.s. Hats off to Rickster for stepping up.

If we're doing it the "Waiver Wire" way, then they can set a date. Once the League is entered, there's a "3 day moratorium" or whatever on waivers, and people line up a Priority List just like an auto Draft and it all goes in order of the Waiver Priority.

Example: It's entered Tuesday at noon on Yahoo. We all sign in, see our teams, etc. WAiver date is set at October 3rd, Friday.

We all have until Friday to make a list of all the players we want to pluck off waivers.

On Friday at Midnight (or whatever their date is) Yahoo tabulates the Waiver Requests, processes everytone's selections in order, and the players are dispersed that way. Anyone dropped past that date gets placed on a similar 3 day delay on the waiver wire.

Basically, you build a stack of people you want on your waiver wire, Set priorities, and hope you hit as many of your players as possible.

t would be preferential to picking on the move like I did on Saturday. :( But I won't compain. I got Lidstrom, Zetterberg and Richards, which is a solid foundation. I'll manage.

As for the Live Draft, I want something fast, dude. It was WAY too slow last time. Personally, I'm a 30 second man. You get a Jeopardy Window, and that's that. I say we fill the teams to MAYBE 12 players and waive the rest dude. I know RIckster is not Internet Proficient, but I'm sure someone can log in and make his requests for him. Hell I'll do for him if he  wants me to.

Either way, I also think it'd be good to have a second "Stand in" to waive up the rest of that team because I don't know if Yahoo will support a 15 player league.

Either way, we'll sort it out eventually.

Ghett0 wrote re: HFHL Live Draft Blog
on 09-29-2008 10:44 AM 09-29-2008 10:44 AM

As for the "Eliminated players" why don't WE Find a SECOND SPONSOR, who gets to Draft up 6 players from what's left with The Backstrom and Gaborik foundation, and then they can join in the league, and fill it out. Dave and Corey are a team, why don't one of you "break off" and have your own team? (assuming no other community member wants the team.)

Then, we still have 16 league players, no one gets eliminated, everyone has their own team, and everything works itself out! :-)

Mitchell wrote re: HFHL Live Draft Blog

Well Ghett0 I agree it went alittle slow on Saturday but if we do the rest live online yahoo on;ly gives you 1 and a half minutes to draft so for 8 rounds it wouldn't take long. I understand the waiver wire thing justg not a fan of it for getting 8 players(half your team) it's good if you ojnly want 1 or 2 guys. As for the 2 players that are left out I don't care what we do with them Backstrom is decent but I wouldn't want any thing to do with Gaborik. How about you just draw 2 names out of a hat and those 2 people have a choice if they want them or not if they don't keep drawing till they either gone or all the way threw the list. if they make it all the way threw then they back in free ageant pool andf if you take one of them thats your 9th round pick. that sounds fair to me what do you guys think.

People like MItchell and I suggest a form of a live draft and then ... Ghett0 sides with a waiver wire.  I think the waiver wire is a very shitty way to finish a team.  I don't want to draft my team on my own, not with the help of an algorithm.

Couldn't agree more with you Corey. The reason I don't like the waiver wire thing is because I like to draft players based on what other are doing since you can get a better idea if you have to get a player now or if he will drop alittle further. But i won't complain about whatever the powers that be decide to do. Just if it is going to be live online draft can we have it on Wednesday or later.
